From Nebraska we drove into Colorado and ww..www..wwhoa.
I can’t do an impersonation or an accent to save my life...except for one word said by one man...ww..www..wwhoa...the man, the myth, the legend and the best character actor to ever walk the face of the planet...Christopher Walken. I am not claiming I do it well, but to the chagrin of my husband and children I do it often not well.
Around every bend of the road I could not help but exclaim at the scenery before us.
In my rotation were: ww..www..wwhoa, you guys...looooook at that view, stuuuunnnnning, wow just wow, are you seeing this?!?, b-e-u-to-ful, holy shit we are high up, and ohhh myyy Jesus Andrew SLOW DOWN followed by ragged gasping breathing.
You may not know this, but in addition to my many other endearing personality traits I am terribly, cripplingly afraid of heights. My body has two reactions: 1. My knees go weak and my legs turn to jelly. Ask my sister about that time she took me to a bridge over the deepest gorge in the southwest and my legs collapsed and I had to crawl off of the bridge. And 2. On special occasions my brain decides it would be better if I just passed out. I get light headed, hear a roaring in my ears and my eyes become flooded with light. Thankfully I have never fully passed out, but neither one of these bodily reactions make me feel like evolution is smiling down on me.
The drive was beautiful, high up and harrowing at times. AJ told me at one point it would be better if I just passed out so he didn‘t have to listen to me whimper in the passenger seat.
Even Sadie who is a few dog biscuits short of a full box got a bit worried that we were towing a 40 ft. camper containing our entire life through steep mountain passes during a snowstorm.
Thankfully we made it to Granby, CO all in one piece and very excited to explore our next National park!
We stayed at a brand new giant RV resort where we were basically the only ones there. Turns out we may have been a few weeks early for camping in Colorado. Cold weather = no water at camp sites which can make things a bit less glampy. It snowed on and off the whole time we were there....
But that didn’t stop us from visiting the Rocky Mountain National Park!
Getting our Junior Rangers badge!
And exploring!!!
And we saw a moose!!!
Granby was a great little town and we would definitely go back for a visit. I even got to sneak away for a few hours to Sulpher Springs for a bit of self care! Nothing feels better than a soak in hot springs followed by a massage. I felt like a whole new woman after some quiet time and pampering!
I hope we make it back to the Rocky Mountian National Park in the summer when more of the roads are open and we can make it to the Estes Park area.
B1 coined a new brilliant phrase while we were here. AJ has two major food taboos- 1. He will not order the same thing as anyone else when we go out to dinner and 2. He does not share food.
We went out to eat when we were exploring Granby at the Granby Garage Roadhouse where we had a scrumptious meal. AJ ordered wings that came out looking delicious and the kids and I were making eyes at him to let us try sample bite when B1 said “Ohh I forgot Fishes don’t share dishes.”
Hahahaha...well done kiddo.
AWESOME !!!!! Love your life !!! So glad you guys are having a blast!! Miss you!! Love Val
