As I sit in the laundry room again on this leg of our vouage I am reminded of someone who was imperative in ensuring this trip's success. She crawled through windows for us, she always had the coldest water in her fridge, and always good for an update on the new set of state quarters that she had been collecting for you....and which ones you could help her with.
Grandma Kay.
When it was time to start cleaning up her house we found several framed pictures of the US with a quarter sitting in a majority of the premade holes. We also found some bags filled with her many duplicates.
She even had some for B1, whose name was always just slightly mispronounced. My wife, Kathy knows what I'm talking about.
Some of the quarters, both frames and bags had some weird names scrawled on them in her notoriously hard to read script...Rachary and Lacob B. Never could figure out who that was.
I've kept those quarters all these years to ensure they went towards something awesome. I love that every time I pull out that bag I get a flash of a memory... today's was the time we watched Spaceballs and then Blazing Saddles back to back. Rolled off the couch laughing if I recall...
Reminded of her time in the work force...
We have her to thank for many trips to the laundry room and I think that she would have loved that.
Grandma Kay.
Great tales
Aww I love this! Grandma did have the best water. Do they still smell like her house?
Wonderful memories! Thanks for sharing.
